4th International Workshop on Sensor-based Activity Recognition and Interaction(IWOAR 2017)

Call For Papers
With ubiquitous systems becoming an integral part of our everyday life, the accurate sensor-based activity recognition and interaction plays a central role in the quality of such systems. Systems aiming to provide the user with assistance or to monitor their behaviour and condition rely heavily on sensors and the activities and interactions recognised from these sensors. Providing adequate activity recognition and interaction poses challenges on different levels: from the sensors that capture the behaviour, through the methods needed to reason about the sensor readings and the underlying behaviour, to the appropriate methods with which the system can interact and assist the user. Any of these aspects is essential and can influence the quality of the provided intelligent service.
To address these challenges, we organise the 4th International Workshop on Sensor-based Activity Recognition and Interaction (iWOAR): a workshop with conference character, which takes place annually in Northern Germany. The workshop focuses on:
- sensors, sensor infrastructures, and sensing technologies needed to detect user behaviour and to provide interaction between system and user
- data- and model-driven methods for intelligent monitoring and assistance that support the user in everyday settings
- novel applications and evaluation studies of methods for intelligent monitoring of everyday user behaviour and user assistance using sensing technologies
- intelligent methods for synthesising assistance and interaction strategies using sensing technologies
