Federation of resources enables network operators, cloud providers and IoT infrastructure owners to collaborate and share their resources to create a large virtual pool of resources at multiple locations, across different owners and tenants.
To support this scenarios, it is necessary to perform research on techniques to federate networks, Clouds and IoT resources, enabling the instantiation, provisioning and migration of logical resources across geographically dispersed testbeds and sites, and to derive the integrated management layers that enable an efficient and secure deployment of federated networks, Clouds and IoT applications. The aim of this workshop is to allow researchers to present their latest research results on federation techniques and approaches, including SD* paradigms and technologies, Edge/Cloud computing, cross-domain orchestration and workload engineering, federated smart infrastructure use cases and applications, including but not limited to the following topics:
- Cloud, network and IoT federation models and architectures
- Cross-Datacenter/Cloud SDNs
- Function Virtualization for Networking and IoT in Edge/Cloud federations
- Smart Datacenter interconnect and brokering solutions
- Traffic and Workload engineering for Edge/Cloud federations
- Cloud-based IoT federation
- Overlay networks and VPNs
- Security in federated infrastructure environments
- Geographic location-aware high availability and elasticity
- Federated microservice-based applications
