Call For Papers
Papers are invited for MassMin 2016. All abstracts will be reviewed by the organising committee, and authors of approved submissions will be invited to submit a full paper.
Papers accepted for the conference will be subject to peer review. The selection criterion includes relevance to the conference theme, accuracy and originality of ideas, significance of the contribution and quality of presentation.
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and presented at conference technical sessions. All presenting authors are required to pay and attend the conference to present their papers.
Topics
Papers should have a connection to large-scale underground mining and may cover topics from a research, feasibility investigation, mining method selection, mine planning, operational, business improvement, novel idea or case study perspective. To prompt ideas for papers the broad topic headings proposed for MassMin 2016 include:
- Rock mass characterisation
- Caving mechanics (caveability, fragmentation, gravity flow)
- Mine development (development layouts, new projects, infrastructure, transition to underground, rapid mine development)
- Cave establishment (undercutting, drill and blast, pre-conditioning)
- Cave management (automation, equipment selection, cross over into flow monitoring, cave back monitoring, internal sensors, convergence management, draw control, subsidence monitoring and management)
- Large open stoping (drill and blast, backfill, mass blasts)
- Materials handling (including ore handling, management processes, logistics of personnel and consumables)
- Mine support systems (ventilation and refrigeration, de-watering, communications and automation systems, maintenance practices, continuous improvement
- Project management (including capital estimating, coordination, EPCM approaches, case studies)
- Safety and environmental issues (including social licence to operate, DPM, heat management, community engagement)
