Southern Data Science Conference 2019 (Research Track) (SDSC'19)

April 11-12, 2019,Atlanta, GA, United States,

Call For Paper

The organizing committee of the 2019 Southern Data Science Conference is pleased to invite you to submit a proposal (2-page structured extended abstract, see submission guidelines) to present a poster in the Research Track of the Southern Data Science Conference 2019. The conference is scheduled for April 11 and 12th 2019.

Our Philosophy is to bring together students and industry practitioners to discuss current challenges in data science, network and develop working relationships, and present solutions to real-world questions. Undergraduate and graduate students working in data science, including but not limited to areas in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and natural language processing, are highly encouraged to submit an abstract. Students at any stage of their projects are welcome, from discussion of initial results to retrospective lessons-learned to fully-formed end-to-end pipelines. The Research Track is an ideal venue for presenting your data science research, soliciting valuable feedback from industry experts on works-in-progress, and sharing lessons learned with the broader data science community. Recent already published work can be presented. There is no double submission policy.

Poster presenters will be required to attend the Poster Session at a specified time to discuss the work with conference attendees. The poster session will allow the presenter to interact with interested parties in a casual setting to share information and ideas.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following topic areas:

  • Feature extraction and preprocessing
  • Text mining
  • Pattern recognition
  • Machine learning
  • Supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Deep learning and neural networks
  • Model evaluation and interpretation
  • Privacy/Security
  • Cyberinfrastructure and secure computing
  • Privacy-preserving analytics
  • Security/Privacy challenges and potential solutions
  • Applications
  • Case study of the application of a technique to solve a problem
  • Lessons learned for a domain-specific application
  • Important Dates

    Submission Deadline:: January 24, 2019
    Authors Notification:: January 24, 2019
